February 24-25, 2017 at the University of British Columbia
The sixth annual West Coast Trade Workshop will be hosted by the Vancouver School of Economics and Sauder School of Business, with the support of the Center for Innovative Data in Economics. The goal of the conference is to take advantage of the proximity of many scholars in international economics on the West Coast. The conference will take place on February 24th and 25th at UBC in Vancouver. It will start with lunch on the 24th and end by 2:30pm on the 25th. We plan to have 7-8 papers on the program, with one slot dedicated to the best graduate student submission. Papers on all topics of international economics are welcome. If you would like to submit an abstract or paper for the workshop, please do so to firstname.lastname@example.org by December 9th. We plan to notify participants by early January. Both abstracts and papers will be accepted, but preference will be given to completed papers. Those who do not present are very much encouraged to attend.
UBC will provide all conference meals, as well as hotel accommodation for one night (or two if you cannot travel on Friday morning) for all presenters. Additional funding for hotel accommodations may be available. The winner of the graduate student award will also receive support to help with travel costs.
SKI TRIP: We plan on organizing a ski trip on Sunday Feb 26th to Whistler. Depending on demand, we can rent a big van. This can be done as a one day trip from Vancouver, leaving around 6:30/7 on Sunday morning and returning after the lifts close at 3:30/4. It takes a little less than 2 hours to go from downtown Vancouver to Whistler, so it will be compatible with flying out of Vancouver late on Sunday night, i.e. after 8pm.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see in Vancouver soon!
